  • Almost done....
Well...I am now 38 weeks pregnant.  This last week has been a rough one.  Last Thursday I woke up with a headache and thought I better check my blood pressure (headaches can be a sign of high blood pressure).  I have been concerned about my blood pressure because I have had a lot of swelling and rapid weight gain this last month which is another indication that I could start having issues with preeclampsia and such.  So anyways...when I checked my blood pressure it was high.  I called my doctor and went in for a quick visit.  They drew some blood and did a test on Julia called a NST (non-stress test) where they hook her up to a fetal monitor for about ten minutes and have me push a button each time she moves to make sure she is responding ok.  Everything was looking ok so my doctor told me to stop working and go on bedrest.  I've been trying really hard to be good and stay laying or sitting, but it has been hard.  I really want to run around and have the house all clean and do my nesting thing but I'm not supposed to.  Yesterday was another "fun" day.  I woke up and could tell my blood pressure was high again.  I took it several times throughout the morning and it wouldn't come down even with staying in bed or on the couch all morning.  So I called my doctor and went in again for another checkup.  They sent me over to the hospital to have more labs drawn and be monitored for a few hours.  Andy and I spent all afternoon sitting in triage until all the labs came back and then sent back home again to sit on my butt again.  My blood pressure has still been elevated off and on every day but no changes in my blood work or protein in my urine so they are holding off inducing me hoping that I will start dilating or going into labor on my own.  We will see how long this goes on.  They do have me on the schedule to be induced on my due date if I haven't gone yet (Nov. 19th) but we'll see if my blood pressure hangs in that long.  I have a feeling any day now I'm going to be induced or have to get a C-section because of my blood pressures.  So anyways...you all can be praying that Julia will decide to make an appearance soon and I won't have to be induced or anything like that.  So keep your fingers crossed for me and hopefully next time I write I will be a mom!

  •   I thought I would post a quick update on my friend with the twins before giving an update on my own little one.  I am very happy to say that both girls are doing MUCH better than they were a couple of weeks ago and both of them are on their way to recovery and hopefully home in a couple months.  I am so happy to see and hear about their progress and know that much of what has transpired is the direct result of a lot of prayer on their behalf.  Keep uplifting their family over the next couple of months though as it is very hard I'm sure to have your little girls stay in the hospital for so long.

    As to my little sweetie...

I am 32 weeks now!  Only 8 more weeks until my due date!  It is hard to believe that in two months I'm going to be holding my little Julia in my arms.  I had a nice surprise this week.  A company in Lakeland that does 4D ultrasounds wanted someone to do advertising for them that was pregnant and a military wife.  Tampa Bay News 10 did a short news clip on the 4pm news today about it.  So anyways...I was able to get a free 4D ultrasound and got to see my little sweetie!  The ultrasound is able to be viewed online as well so Andy will be able to see it from Qatar tomorrow.  I am so excited to hear his reactions to seeing our little girl.  He missed my last ultrasound and I felt bad that he had missed out on such an exciting thing.  Only a little over two weeks to go until Andy comes home!  I can't wait to see him.  We are both getting antsy for this deployment to finally be over.  I am so looking forward to having my hubby home again and being able to bond over our pregnancy some before I deliver in November.  I leave for Indiana on Thursday afternoon.  I'm going to be up there for about a week and my mom is throwing me a baby shower while I'm there.  I'm excited to get to see all my close friends and family again and to get a chance to celebrate my little Julia.

Well...that's all for now...here are some cute pics of Julia from today.  Enjoy!!!!

  • I have a friend who my heart is so very burdened for right now.  She is in my Sunday School class at church.  Her and I were one day apart on our due dates.  She was pregnant with identical twin girls.  She delivered them last week at 29 weeks.  One little girl weighed 2 lbs 11 oz, but the other little one only weighed 1 lb 8 oz.  The one little girl is doing pretty well and breathing completely on her own and tolerating feedings and such and growing just fine.  The smaller little girl, however is not doing well.  They transferred her to another hospital today in order to possibly do surgery to unblock her intestines.  As a NICU nurse I know all that goes into this sort of thing and how serious it can be.  My heart is so heavy for my friend right now.  I sit here in tears thinking about the fact that my little girl is safe and sound inside my belly while my friend deals with endless visits to two NICU's and faces unbelievable fears and stress praying and holding on to hope that her two little girls will someday come home to be with her.  I love my little Julia so much and I've never even seen her.  I can't imagine what my friend is feeling right now.  So much has happened in my life over the last six months.   I have been confronted with one major stress after another...probably more stress than I have dealt with my whole life so far.  And although the last six months has been really rough I sit here and all I can think is how blessed I am.  It really makes you grateful for every day that goes by of swollen feet, heart burn, sleepless nights, being hot all the time, or just being uncomfortable.  Every day that I put in of little aches and pains is another day that my little girl gets to grow and mature.  Every day she gets stronger and healthier.  See... I get to go to my baby shower in a couple of weeks and travel up to see my family in Indiana.  I get to still go to work and be out and about and I've never had one complication this whole pregnancy.  I have taken these little things so for granted.  I just wanted to write out my feelings about all this and just say how extremely thankful I am to God that He has allowed me the enormous privilege of carrying a little girl inside me for over seven months so far.  And I am so grateful for every day that goes by...because I know my friend would do anything to be able to have held her babies inside her for longer and to know that her little girls were healthy and safe.  Pray for my friend and her two little girls.  Pray that God will intervene and heal their little bodies.

  • So much has happened since I last posted.  I am a new aunt!  My sister had her little boy on August 20th and he's such a little cutie.  I have tons of pics of him already but I'm posting just one for now...instead I'm going to show off my little cutie, Julia.  I had an ultrasound done the other day and it was so awesome to get to see her in there again.  She was cracking me up in there.  She had her hand up by her face the whole time and was actually flipping us off with her finger.  Here is the pic:

I thought it was pretty funny but not so Christian-like of my little one...lol.  We'll have to teach her what is inappropriate when she comes out.  Here is her pic of her girlie parts.  She is most definitely a girl!

    It's a GIRL!!!

I also have a picture of her looking at the camera.  Check out the chubby cheeks!  She already weighs 3lbs 5oz!

    Julia's little face

Here's her profile picture.  I can't wait to see her in person!

I thought I'd also post a recent pregnancy picture.  This is from a couple of weeks ago:

And last but not least...here's the new little guy, Caeden Andrew:

He is the cutest thing ever and is just a little guy.  He's such a good baby, too.  He makes me more antsy to meet little Julia!

  • TOP 10 SURE WAYS TO MAKE A PREGNANT WOMAN TO FEEL FAT

    10. How much weight have you gained so far?

    9. Wow!  You are really pooching out there!

    8. Are you sure you aren't having twins?

    7. You must be having a girl because you are carrying all over.

    6. Oh, my gosh!  You look like you could deliver today!  (said at 6 months pregnant)

    5. If you keep going at this rate, you won't be able to walk by the time you are full term!

    4. You better start being careful what you eat because it is going to be really hard for you to lose the weight.

    3. You are definitely starting to look pregnant in your face.

    2. Wow!  And you are only how many weeks?!

    1. WOAH, YOU GOT BIG!!!!

This list is inspired by all the tactful women out there who have made comments to me all ready.  By the way...these are all things that have actually been said to me...no joke.  I just want to put it out there that just because a woman is pregnant does NOT give you the right to tell her what you think about her weight.  Carrying a baby does not exempt you from having your feelings hurt or feeling self conscious about your weight...quite the opposite really.  So next time you want to comment on your friends growing belly, consider saying something like this instead:

    You look great!

    Awww...look at your cute belly!

How are you feeling?  Is everything going well so far?

    You look fantastic!

I hope I carry like you when I am pregnant!

So the moral of the story is...if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all!
